Using Fylely with Clio
Keep using Clio and add Fylely beside it, or move across. Your Clio matters, contacts, time and expenses come into Fylely without exporting a file, and the court dates and time you record in Fylely go back to Clio, so Clio stays complete. Each person connects their own Clio login.
Connect
In Fylely, open Settings → Connections, find Clio, and choose where your Clio account is. The address you sign in to Clio at says which: app.clio.com is the United States, ca.app.clio.com Canada. Press Connect Clio, sign in to Clio if asked, and allow Fylely. You come back to Fylely's import page, ready to bring your files across.
If Clio says the provided client_id is incorrect, your account is in the other region: come back to Connections and choose it. Clio's EasyStart plan does not allow connected apps.
Bring matters, contacts, time and expenses in
On Settings → Import, choose the kind of matter your Clio files are (most are Other matters; estates and guardianships have tabs of their own) and press Fetch from Clio. Fylely reads each matter's display number, description, client, responsible attorney, practice area, status and dates, and shows you every row before anything is saved. Check it, then import. Then choose Contacts and fetch those the same way: name, company, primary email, phone and address.
Clio's display number is kept as the matter number. That is how Fylely knows a matter here and a matter in Clio are the same file; nothing else is guessed. Every import is kept in the import report.
Then Time entries and Expenses: choose how far back (entries created in the last 12 months, the last 3 years, or everything) and press Fetch time entries from Clio or Fetch expenses from Clio. Each entry joins the matter with the same number and keeps who logged it, its rate and whether it was billed in Clio, so billed time is never billed again. Fetching again leaves out what is already here, and time brought in from Clio is never sent back to it.
Documents
On a matter brought in from Clio, the Documents tab's Add files has a Clio button. It copies the documents on the Clio matter with the same matter number, ten at a time; press it again for the rest. Each document comes in once: pressing again copies only what is new, a document you remove here is not brought back, and a newer version in Clio comes in as its own document. Each is checked like any upload, up to 25 MB. Documents need Clio's document permission: if Clio says no, connect Clio again so it can ask you.
Court dates back to Clio
In Settings → Connections → Clio, turn on sending dates. Fylely's deadlines, hearings and running limitation dates then go to your own Clio calendar, on the Clio matter when the matter numbers match. They are sent every 30 minutes, or straight away with Sync now, and a date changed or removed in Fylely is changed or removed in Clio. Tasks and consultations are not sent.
One person per firm sends dates, because Clio shows a matter's calendar entries to the whole firm and two senders would put every date in twice.
Time back to Clio
Turn on sending time, and the time entries you record in Fylely from then on go to the Clio matter with the same matter number, as your own Clio time entries. An entry changed in Fylely is changed in Clio, and one deleted in Fylely is deleted there. Time imported from Clio is never sent back. An entry with its own rate carries it; otherwise Clio uses your rate on that matter, as it would for time typed into Clio.
What Fylely can and cannot see
Fylely asks Clio for permission to read matters, contacts, users, calendars, activities (time entries and expenses) and documents, and to add calendar entries and time entries. It cannot read your Clio bills or communications. Matters, contacts, time and expenses are read only when you press Fetch from Clio, documents only when you press Clio on a matter's Documents tab, and nothing is sent until you turn it on. Nothing read from Clio is used to train any model. The connection is stored encrypted, and only you can see or remove yours. More in the Privacy Policy and on the security page.
Disconnect
Press Disconnect on the Clio card: the connection is ended at Clio and deleted from Fylely. If someone removes Fylely from inside Clio instead, Fylely notices and ends the connection too, and the card says so. Either way, what was already sent stays in Clio.
