Fylely for Outlook
A File to Fylely button on every email you open in Outlook. Choose the matter (the sender's matters come first when they are a client), and Fylely saves the email to the matter's notes, saves the attachments you tick to its documents, and logs the time if you enter it. A filed email reads the same as one filed from Fylely's own Email page.
Install it for the firm
Someone with Microsoft 365 admin rights opens the Microsoft 365 admin center, goes to Settings → Integrated apps → Upload custom apps, chooses Office Add-in, and gives this address:
https://fylely.com/outlook-addin/manifest.xml
They then choose who gets it (everyone, or named people). It can take a few hours to appear in Outlook. Nothing needs installing on anyone's computer.
Or just for yourself
If your firm allows people to add their own add-ins: in Outlook on the web, open any email, choose Apps → Add apps, then My add-ins → Add a custom add-in → Add from URL, and give the address above. Many firms turn this off; if the option is missing, ask whoever runs your Microsoft 365.
Signing in
The first time, press Sign in to Fylely in the add-in. A small window opens: sign in to Fylely there if you are not already, then press Connect. In Outlook on the web the sign-in opens in a new tab; come back to the window and press Try again.
The add-in keeps a sign-in of its own, for you only. It has exactly your role's access, follows your firm's two-step sign-in and inactivity timeout, and ends when you press Sign out in the add-in or sign out other devices in Fylely's Settings.
What it can and cannot see
It reads the email you have open, and only when you press File: the subject, sender, recipients, date and text, and the attachments you tick. It cannot read the rest of your mailbox, send email, or change anything in Outlook. Microsoft asks only for permission to read the open item.
Attachments up to 3 MB are saved from the add-in. A larger one can be saved from Fylely's Email page once Outlook is connected in Settings, which fetches it from Microsoft directly.
Which Outlook
Outlook on the web, the new Outlook for Windows, and Microsoft 365 Outlook for Windows and Mac. Saving attachments needs a current version; older ones can still file the email and the time.
